No, we would refer you to a lab or agency that specializes in urine toxicology drug screens.
Your first session will last 60 minutes. Subsequent sessions are 50 minutes. The frequency of sessions varies depending on your particular needs. Some clients come in weekly; some come every other week. While other clients call to schedule an appointment on an as-needed basis. You have the right to terminate your treatment at any time for any reason.
The initial visit is an assessment. First, we will take care of necessary paperwork and discuss our practice policies. Next, we will ask you questions and take notes in order to document a clear picture of your background, mental health history, medical history, and the current problem that you are experiencing. We will go over our assessment with you, and at that time we will discuss if you would like to move forward with treatment. If you choose to continue treatment, together we will develop a treatment plan. We will also refer you to other professionals/community agencies if needed. You should feel free to ask us any questions you may have at that time.
We will never pressure you to talk about something that you do not wish to discuss. This is your treatment and we will abide by your agenda and how fast or slow you wish to take therapy.
Ethically and legally we are bound by confidentiality regardless of your age and we take this obligation very seriously. There are however, exceptions to the confidentiality rule:
1) if you tell us about a plan to hurt yourself or someone else,
2) if you tell us that someone is hurting you (if you’re under 18 or over 62 years old). In each of these cases we are required by law to report such information to the proper authorities (police, DCFS, etc.).
You can reach your therapist at the number they provide you once you decide to work together. If you are in need of immediate service, e.g. you are upset and need to talk, your therapist will be available to help you when the offices are closed. It is not reasonable to think that you will only need your therapist during office hours. We ask that you please be respectful of your therapist’s time when you are in need of immediate service and that you call during reasonable hours (8:30 AM – 10:00 PM) if possible. For the first 10 minutes, we will not charge you for the call, from 10 minutes to 20 minutes we may bill you for ½ a session and over 20 minutes we will bill you for an entire session. This will depend on how often you call and use our services.
